Who We Are
A Free Community
Walnut Grove is a Baptist community of faith. That means we uphold specific, historic Baptist principles of freedom in worship. We believe that individuals have a freedom and responsibility to interpret Scripture for themselves and to work out their relationship with God directly without interference.
We also believe that local churches are the place we best organize and participate in what God is doing. That means we have partner churches and organizations but we ultimately make our decisions here as a congregation, answering only to God and each other. It also means we believe that others should have that same freedom, to worship and gather freely and without fear.
Loving God
Loving People
Our Walnut Grove Community exists to live out the commands of Jesus to “Love God and Love People” and to share the good news with everyone we meet. We read the bible, we love and serve our neighbors and we worship and pray together.
A Big Tent
“Wherever two Baptists have gathered there are at least three opinions”
Since we believe in the individual freedom and responsibility for folks to work out their own relationship with God, that means that we don’t all agree on every point of theology or practice. But what we do all agree on is following Jesus.
In our community, we try to hold space to disagree kindly and well, and make sure that it never makes us lose sight of the love and mission of Jesus that brings us together.
